The mission where father Buenaventura Suárez, Jesuit and astronomer, set up his observatory after arriving in 1703. It now houses the planetarium named after him. Daytime visits 7:00 to 19:30 with a solar telescope, night visits 19:30 to 21:00 with a telescope, every day. River voyage down the Paraguay aboard the Danubio, a 13 metre boat, from Asunción to Concepción in about five days. Up to six passengers on board, or eight on day trips. They carry a 4.5 m Vanessa tender, air conditioning, a kayak, binoculars, life jackets, a diesel generator, a fridge and limited fishing tackle; satellite phone on request. They stop at Puerto Ybapobó, Antequera and Puerto Rosario, all good fishing water. From September 2026 the boat is moored at Náutica Remanso, in Mariano Roque Alonso, and runs from there, in both directions. Day trips, overnights and full weekends are also possible, as well as outings on Asunción bay. They sail all year, though December to March is very hot. Worth confirming availability before planning around it.

Guided tours of the dam are free: departures to the powerhouse and the Aña Cuá branch at 8:00, 10:00 and 13:00 (the last of the day). The centre is open Monday to Saturday 8:30 to 11:30 and 13:30 to 16:30, Sundays and holidays from 8:30. By prior arrangement you can add the Atinguy Wildlife Refuge (8:00, 9:00, 10:30 and 13:00) and the Akuti Po'i trail in the Isla Yacyretá Reserve (8:30, book 24 h ahead).
