In Ayolas, the town of the Yacyretá dam, fishing shows up in the guide in three forms: the package that bundles room, meals, a guided boat, fuel and bait into one price per day; the fishing trip sold on its own, for those sleeping elsewhere; and the houseboat, which leaves from Ayolas and sails the Paraná. This note brings together who sells each one, with what each operator publishes, and where to sleep in the area. What an operator does not publish is not here: ask them directly before booking.

Who sells fishing packages in Ayolas and what they include

These are the operators in the guide selling fishing in Ayolas, with what each one lists as included:

None of these operators lists fishing tackle or the MADES licence as included. Unless the operator says otherwise, the tackle is yours: to stock up there is Ayolas Pesca y Camping, with branches in Coratei, San José Mi and Pilar. What a package leaves out and what to ask before sending a deposit are covered in fishing lodges in Paraguay: what a package includes; what the day on the boat is like, in dorado fishing in Ayolas with a guide.

In Ayolas. Besides Hotel Ayolas, Posada Mysko and Marcão de Ayolas Hotel d'Pesca, covered above:

On the islands. On Yacyretá island, Camping Bajo la Luna sits on the bluff facing the Paraná, with air-conditioned rooms with private bath, camping, a grill and a kitchen; Isidro Vera - Baqueano de Yacyretá, the island's fishing guide, works out of there. Isla Paraíso, in the middle of the river, has cabins and camping, with the boat transfer described above.

Near the reservoir. Saite Experiencia is a hotel in Barreto Kué, Ayolas, near the Yacyretá reservoir.

Ayolas is in the department of Misiones, on the banks of the Paraná. According to Hotel Ayolas, it is 430 km by road from Foz do Iguaçu, entering Paraguay over the Friendship Bridge, and 310 km from Asunción.

On the Argentine side, the Ayolas-Ituzaingó border crossing (Corrientes) runs over the dam, and in November 2024 it was opened to cars. Hours and conditions: Ayolas and Ituzaingó, the Yacyretá crossing. Entry documents coming from Brazil and the licence for foreigners: fishing in Paraguay, a guide for Brazilian anglers.

Before you book: closed season and licence

The closed season overrides any package: it usually starts in the first days of November and on the Paraná runs until December 21. On those days sport fishing is closed, package or not, and each year's exact dates come from MADES: see our page on licence, closed season and sizes. Beyond the closed season, MADES can ban by resolution any fishing aimed at a concentrated shoal, as it did in September 2026 with a shoal of dorado on the Paraná. If a measure like that is in force, it shows up on that page too. What you catch each month: the month-by-month calendar.

The MADES sport fishing licence is mandatory, and none of the packages above lists it as included: ask when booking whether the lodge arranges it. If not, you can get it online through SIAM or at the MADES regional office in Ayolas: see the licence step by step. And the Paraná level at Ayolas before heading out: today's river levels.

The amounts in this note are the ones each operator publishes on its page in the guide, and they change when the operator changes them. Confirm the price, what it includes and the dates directly with the operator before sending any deposit.
