Tackle shops in Asunción: where to buy gear and live bait and where to get a reel fixed

Fishing gear in Asunción: rods, reels and lures

El Mohicano Camping y Pesca, at Avda. Fernando de la Mora 3274, sells rods, reels, lures, hooks, line, tackle boxes, pliers, filleting knives and life jackets, with its own Abu Garcia section, and on the camping side tents, sleeping bags, camp cookware, torches and coolers. It has an online store, and according to its website the shop is open Monday 9:00 to 18:00, Tuesday to Friday 8:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 15:00.

Downtown, at Estrella 570, Anello Pesca is a fishing and camping shop: rods, reels, hooks, line and lures.

In the north of the city, on Palo Santo between My. Tomás A. Ruffinelli and Roble, is the branch of Chaco Outdoors, a hunting, fishing and camping store founded in 2008 in Loma Plata, in the Chaco, where it still has a shop. The Asunción branch also carries rooftop tents.

Jaha Pesca, at Mayor Blas Fleitas 1125 in Ciudad Nueva, describes itself on Instagram as a fishing and camping shop, but it has not posted there since August 2025: call before you go to check it is still open. Camping 44, at Avda. Artigas 2061, is a camping and outdoors store with a fishing section and ships nationwide; in its online store that section lists tackle boxes, so for rods or reels ask before you go. According to its website, it is open Monday to Friday 8:00 to 17:15 and Saturday 8:00 to 12:30.

Live bait in Asunción: buy it on the day

For surubí catfish (live bait in deep pools, night drifting) and patí catfish (bottom bait, dusk and night), it is best to buy the bait on the day of the trip. Chany Pesca sells live bait and tackle on San Estanislao near Avda. Artigas, in the Jara neighbourhood. In the south, Carnadas Chuchú sells bait in Itá Enramada, the neighbourhood of the Asociación Paraguaya de Caza y Pesca.

Where to get a reel fixed in Asunción

If your reel jammed on the last trip, Molinas Pesca, on Cap. José Domingo Lombardo near the IPS central hospital, offers gear maintenance and repair, according to its Facebook page. It also sells fishing and camping gear and ships nationwide. Before taking your gear in, message or call: the number is on its listing, among the guide's tackle shops.

For the boat: boatyard and boat dealer

If what you need is the boat or the outboard: AlumiCavel, on Avda. Perón in Itá Enramada, is a boatyard; it builds aluminium and fibreglass boats and offers outboard motors and accessories. Aquay, at Avda. Artigas 3015 in Tablada Nueva, is a boat dealer: it represents boat brands and sells accessories.

Tackle shops in Ciudad del Este and Encarnación

In the Ciudad del Este area there is Pescaíto Pesca y Náutica, in Hernandarias, at Mariscal López 368: fishing, boating and hardware, with gear, spare parts and bait for the Alto Paraná and the Itaipú reservoir.

In the Encarnación and San Cosme area, the shops are in the city of Encarnación. Grupo San Javier, on Avda. San Roque González de Santa Cruz at the bridge access, is a wholesaler and shop for hunting, fishing, camping and boating, founded in 1998. It has an online store, carries brands such as Abu Garcia, Shimano, Daiwa, Penn, Berkley, Mustad and Rapala, and, according to its Instagram, is open Monday to Saturday 7:30 to 18:00. In the same city, Encarnación Pesca, on Prof. Alberto Escobar Delvalle, has gear, lures and bait for the reservoir, and Nilton Pesca, on Clementina Irrazabal Barboza, is a hunting and fishing shop.
